Attachment types for hair extensions

Since there is a wide range of different types of hair extensions, the principles of extension also differ. Let’s take a look at the main types of attachments used for various products or even hair extensions.

Hair wefts are created either by hand or on special machines. In the manual creation process, the hairs are attached to the mesh using knots. When hair tresses are created using special tools, the masters use melted keratin, which is absorbed into the hair structure using an ultrasonic device. At this point, the hair strands are machine-sewn into a strip of 1.5 m length using threads. After that, the finished hair is cut to form curls.

How is the hair extension procedure carried out on tress? The hair master divides the client’s hair into segments and pulls the tight braids on the head. These braids are used to attach whole hair. The strands are secured with tiny elastic bands.

The number of tresses determines the number of braids. The main advantage of this extension is that it can be cut lengthwise into sections. When the braids are finished, the master sews the hair tress onto the braid using a special thread and a bent needle. When sewing is finished, the ends of the hair extensions are secured with micro clamps.

Hair extensions are initially made from ready-made weft and shaped into curls. This extension consists of hair attached to a small plastic or metal barbed fastener using rivets or hand sewing. The number of pins depends on the length of the curl.

Before the hair extension procedure, the hair clips are assembled and sorted by size and length. The hair is separated perpendicularly from the section down the client’s ear. Clips are used to hold strands of hair in place.

The extension starts from the back of the client’s head as follows: the hair on the back of the head is detached from the base and the rest is trimmed. If a single clip is used, the master applies two wefts to a section of hair. The distance between clips is about 2 inches.

Hair extensions on tapes are usually done in factories: in this case, the hair is applied to a sticky polymer or silicone base using a special glue, and then a thin, removable protective layer is applied. The normal tape size is 1-1.5 inches (2.5-4 cm), but micro tapes (1-1.5 cm) are also available (credit).

When choosing a tape extension of the required color, the procedure begins with dividing the hair into segments. The master begins to apply ribbons to the lower part of the head, gradually rising. Hair extensions with bands are very convenient and quick and can take up to 15 minutes.

How is this done? The technician removes the protective layer from the tape and adheres it to the hair 1 cm (0.4 in) from the roots. After that, another tape is applied to the other side and pressed tightly. Thus, the hair is sandwiched between two separate hair extensions.
